1956 FIAT 1100 (D52)

This fully restored vintage classic was imported from Italy and used for promotional purposes only. Remarkable overall condition cosmetically and mechanically with fresh engine rebuild. Looks and runs great ... Ready for duty and a very practical design. It is very attractive and an attention-getter that is ideal for branding and promotion and, in fact, a quite useful vehicle in the right urban or commercial setting. Body is straight and rust free with an excellent recent paint job, all trim is correct and in very good condition. One unique feature is the rear hinged doors for easy access to the compact cab. The rugged bed features sturdy dropsides and tailgate for easy loading and rated for 1200 lbs load capacity. The interior is neatly restored with period correct commercial vinyl upholstery, rubber floor mats and a very novel and attractive dash and instrument cluster. All controls and switches are in place and everything works well. The cabin is compact but comfortable. The rebuilt engine, clutch, transmission and driveline are all in excellent shape and the truck starts, runs and drives like a new 1960's vehicle. Ride and handling are as expected of a vintage truck, and there are no issues in regard to mechanical or electrical items. The 1100 model had been in production for many years by 1956 and the engineering is well sorted, dependable and reliable. Mechanical parts are generally available. Powered by an 1100 cc four cylinder engine with 36 HP, performance is modest but adequate for the city. Gearbox is a column-shifted 4 speed manual with ratios specified for industrial duty. The truck is very capable around town, even with heavy loads or steep hills and top speed is around 60 mph. Fresh engine rebuild, well maintained, just tuned, runs great and ready for display, light duty or a fantastic addition to any vintage collection. Extremely rare in this condition and almost never seen in the US. Quality of restoration and rarity validates the price.

Clear California title and current registration .. ready to drive home.

MODEL HISTORY

The Fiat 1100 series was small family car produced from 1953 to 1969. It was an all-new unibody replacement for the Fiat 1100 E, which descended from the pre-war, body-on-frame

Fiat 508 C Balilla 1100. The 1100 was changed steadily and gradually until being replaced by the new Fiat 128 in 1969.This vehicle is part of a series of light commercial versions of the 1100 built, with later models called the Fiat 1100T, which remained in production until 1971. Various modifications and detail changes were incorporated in the commercial versions. The pickup version was popularly know as a “Camioncino”. The 1956 model was the last year with the rear hinged doors and the charming 1950’s body style. Production continued with the Fiat 1100 T introduced in 1957 as a panel van, pickup and minibus. In 1959, its successor was unveiled, the Fiat 1100 T2, that had a 1,222 cc engine. The model line continued with a steady stream of updated engines, until production of the 1100 T4 finally came to an end in 1971.
