1960 Vespa GS150 VS5 (BM481) Offered at $18,975

This classic Vespa GS150 VS5 is a rare find of the most collectible GS150 model. This Vespa has been the subject of a restoration to remarkable condition by a Vespa specialist in Italy.  The GS150 VS5 is one of the most historically significant Vespa models and this one is in collectable condition and ready to ride or show. Complete and very original in all regards, this Vespa has been ridden very few miles since the comprehensive resto.

Overall condition is spectacular and shows the quality of a detailed restoration.  Paint and bodywork are in excellent condition, with a few very minor scratches. The front and rear suspensions have been rebuilt and the engine has been fully reconditioned.  This GS150 is in truly superb shape showcasing many new parts, new hardware and detailed attention.

The VS5 model is the final evolution of the classic GS150 and is one of the rarest large frame, wide body models.  Produced for only one year, 1960-61, it features a handlebar mounted headlamp and the voluptuous curves and elegant lines that define the iconic style that made Vespa so popular.  Considered by many the most beautiful of all classic Vespas, the GS150 also offered great handling and stability via 10" wheels, plenty of power and a 4-speed manual gearbox.  The GS 150 was the first Vespa fitted with a dual saddle as well.  These features make it one of the most rideable vintage Vespas.

Various unique details make the GS 150 VS5 a visual delight including the unique tail light, the sensuous rear cowl panels, oval speedometer and the graceful handlebar fairing.  Technically the VS5 offered upgrades including improved electrical system and ignition, revised carb tuning, revised porting and better suspension.

Performance and handling are of a very high order, especially so for the period.  Top speed is over 60 mph, brakes and chassis well able to handle that speed.  The GS150 is a wonderful machine to drive. It is very nimble and fast. Even now, over 60 years from its debut, comports itself well on today's roads. The design was so far ahead of its time, that it still looks fresh, and its "sporting" motor is fast enough to keep up with modern traffic.
