1966 Lambretta LiS 150 Silver Special (L119)

This 1966 Lambretta LiS 150 Silver Special is an authentic survivor, in original paint, with ample patina and real character. It is just one cool dude of a scooter. This LiS 150 has FMI certification with a cowl mounted plaque. Shows only 8191Km (5,089 miles) on the odometer, TMU but believed correct. This is a bike that has been ridden and enjoyed, but still has plenty more thrills to deliver. Overall condition is good, complete and shows as a true rider’s scoot. Overall a really clean, genuine and correct example of one of Lambretta’s best models. Looks real, not over restored, runs great, ready to ride.
We acquired it from a Lambretta enthusiast in norther Italy and imported it to San Francisco. It has both the appeal of being largely original, with the added attraction of appropriate customization. Paint finish shows well for its age, with plenty of patina and a few scratches and scuffs. The bodywork is unique and stylish with sculpted cowl panels accented with “Jet Age” chrome trim and aftermarket trim pieces. A matching front fender guard is fitted. A covered spare tire is mounted to the back of the legshield and a rubber floor mat is fitted. A correct dual saddle is fitted.
The LiS 150 Special was introduced in 1963 as a sportier alternative to the standard Li 150. The compression ratio was increased from 7:1 to 7.5:1 giving the special 8.25 bhp (6 kW) over the standard 150's 6.6 bhp (5 kW). The biggest advantage for the 150 Special was its unique gear set. It had a close-ratio gearbox that allowed it to make the most of the motor’s power. The 150 Special also had some of the “luxury” features of the TV, such as a key ignition switch, and the sporty bodywork.
On the road, the 150 Special is fast enough to ride in normal modern traffic. It has good acceleration and reasonable top speed. The gearing is excellent, and the scooter accelerates well in second and third gear.
One of the most successful and collectible Lambrettas. This model offers a good balance of excellent styling, a bit of performance, reliability and value. A perfect scoot to ride to marque events and rallies.
