A truly special GTV that we acquired from the personal collection of a close friend in northern Italy. This car has been pampered and maintained by a dedicated Alfisti for over 20 years. It presents beautifully in all regards and is fairly considered a 9 out of 10 points example. Attentive service history and documented maintenance since 2014. Fully sorted, performance and handling display the legendary rightness for which the GTV 1750 is known. The body is in superb condition showcasing the iconic lines in the original metallic silver color. Panel fit and finish is smooth and correct, no rust ever. All trim, glass, lenses, badges and details correct and in very good condition. The interior has been fully refreshed and is in excellent shape. Overall a rare find - a personally cared for car, showered with love, owned with pride - ready to enchant a new enthusiast.
In person this GTV makes a very positive impression and passes the most rigorous inspection. The metallic silver paint finish is lustrous and smooth. Overall appearance is remarkable and the car appears far younger than 52 years. In particular, the grille, bumpers and tail appear as virtually new. This GTV rolls on the classic Alfa porthole steel wheels with original hubcaps. A quadrifolio badge adorns the C-pillar and chrome bullet”racing” rear view mirrors are fitted to each door. The overall look is perfectly on point for a 1971 GTV, one of the most attractive color schemes and faithful to the original design. It is a stunning motorcar.
The interior has been restored with a new dash pad, redone console and wood cladding, new steering wheel and a new rear parcel shelf. All instruments have been serviced and various interior trim bits, buttons and chrome have been replaced. The upholstery has been redone with an OEM matching kit and new floor mats fitted. The artful dash, wood trim, console and door panels are all in excellent condition.
The advantage of being owned by a true Alfisti who was in love with this car, shows in the mechanical condition. The odometer shows just under 75K miles believed to be accurate. The engine is fitted with the dual Solex 40 carburetors and displays excellent compression and oil pressure as expected. It delivers spirited performance and a delightful exhaust tone thru a stainless steel exhaust system. At approximately 40k miles a major service was performed including a new water pump, new fuel pump, driveshaft bearings and replacement of various gaskets.
The gearbox has just been completely rebuilt including all new synchros. Clutch was replaced a few years ago and is in good order, clutch hydraulics have just been redone. The car shifts and drives as new. Steering is tight and accurate, free of excess play. Brakes front and rear, discs, pads and calipers and the master cylinder were all replaced a few years ago and are in fine order. A stout chrome steel sump guard has been installed. Chassis upgrades fitted some time ago include KONI shocks and Eibach springs all around. Handling is sharp and responsive, ride quality remains smooth and steady. Overall mechanically A1 in all regards.
This unique Alfa Romeo coupe shows beautifully and delivers all of the excitement and nuance for which the 1750 series GTV is noted. The well balanced chassis responds crisply to the accurate steering, the ride is supple and composed, the brakes are smooth and powerful, and the engine sings a pleasant note with each snap of the gearshift.
