The SX 200 captures the spirit of the early 1970’s perfectly in a modernist Italian interpretation. What a “Space Age” Jet-set beauty! Coming to us out of a private collection, this SX 200 has been treated to a recent professional restoration and is in beautiful overall cosmetic condition and excellent mechanical order. The paint finish is deep and rich, and all trim and badges are in great shape. A new correct dual saddle has been fitted. Odometer shows only 809 Km, TMU but seems possibly correct given the overall appearance. Near new Michelin tires and an authentic rubber floor mat are fitted. Overall a fine example that shows very well and runs with spirit.
The Lambretta SX200 is at the pinnacle of all the classic scooters, rare and eminently collectable. Innocenti outdid themselves with this scooter by pairing a powerful motor with amazing design and advanced engineering. Offering exhilarating performance and nimble handling, the SX200 is one of the sportiest scooters ever built. The SX200 has the well regarded 200cc motor that first debuted on the TV200, but with better gearing. It provides plenty of power for a scooter, and they really are fast. Certainly they are quick enough to more than hold their own in modern city traffic. It also has the disc brake only found on Innocenti’s top of the line scooters.
These were expensive when new and sold in quite limited numbers, and they are very, very hard to find and rarely come up for sale. Those that have survived tend to stay in hard-core scooterists’ collections and are typically sold privately among enthusiasts. This is a scooter that anyone would be very proud to own and a treasured addition to any serious scooter collection. It is a show-stopper and one of the ultimate scooters for collectors.
