1979 Vespa 50 Special Series 2 Rossa (BM474) Offered at $6,495
The Vespa 50 Special is one of the most popular small-frame Vespas ever produced. Introduced in 1969, the model received updates in the mid-1970s (Series 2) including improved electrics and revised trim. Compared with the simpler Vespa 50 R, the Special had more equipment and a sportier appearance. It was known for its racy look and square headlight, which distinguished it from earlier round-headlight Vespa 50 models. This example has a few options. A speedometer is fitted into the headstock showing 49k miles, but this Vespa looks and rides a lot younger. Features a 4-speed manual transmission, 9” wheels and tires and a comfortable dual saddle. Rubber protectors are fitted to the cowls and front fender. Overall condition is impressive and the engine is in excellent running condition. Original Rossa paint finish makes a very bold impression, and is in very good condition with rich color and nice luster. A clean classic ready for fun and urban adventures.
This is a 50cc scooter, but don’t let that fool you, it is actually quite peppy. There are a myriad of tuning options for this scooter if you want to go even faster, and the very sharp and competent handling on the 50 Special really lends itself to making a pocket-rocket, if you want to go that route.
