1981 Vespa 50 R (BM470) Offered at $6,975
The Vespa 50 R was a simplified and economical version of the classic Vespa small-frame 50 cc scooters. Introduced in 1969, it remained in production for many years as an entry-level model and was sold widely across Europe. The 50 R was designed as a basic commuter scooter, especially for markets with licensing advantages for 50 cc vehicles. It offers dependable performance and reliability. This 50 R is all original and shows the well earned patina of over 45 years of service. Attractive deep blue paint finish shows the marks of a long service life as does the comfortable solo seat. An ideal city scoot that is not too precious to park anywhere. Features an easy to use 3-speed manual transmission and 9” wheels and tires. Excellent performance for a 50cc scooter. Looks bad ass, starts, runs and rides great. Value priced city scoot and a solid base for performance upgrades.
This is a 50cc scooter, but don’t let that fool you, it is actually quite peppy. There are a myriad of tuning options for this scooter if you want to go even faster, and the very sharp and competent handling on the 50 R really lends itself to making a pocket-rocket, if you want to go that route.
