1970 MOTO GUZZI DINGO 50 MM (D247)

Moto Guzzi is well known for their sporting motorcycles, but they also offered basic transportation mopeds and lightweight motorcycles. With a solid reputation for quality and advanced engineering, the Moto Guzzi lightweights were popular as a premium machines.

The DINGO series of 50cc 2-stroke mopeds offered quite a few styles over a long production run from 1963 thru 1976. This moto is a 1970 Moto Guzzi Dingo MM (MonoMarcia) which features unique “Moped” style and an automatic gearbox. This is a simple centrifugal clutch design, that works very well. The MM features bicycle pedals for starting. A pressed steel frame design had a dropped center section like a ladies bicycle to allow riders in skirts to manage the machine. With the 50cc motor top speed is 28 mph. A telescopic fork, dual shock swingarm offer premium moped ride and handling. Dual drum brakes provide reasonable stopping power.

This fully restored bike comes from a private collection where is has been on display for several years and used only for limited events. The moto is very original, complete and in fine cosmetic and mechanical condition. The unique and attractive lines of the frame are set off with Italian red finish, black details and and a white fuel tank. There is a comfortable single saddle and a large read luggage rack. With the automatic gearbox and bicycle pedals both front and rear brakes are on the handlebar. Having been in storage the bike will need basic service and new tires before it is ready to ride.

A rare and special classic with artful Italian design and the mechanical reliability and performance for which Moto Guzzi is well known. A special addition to any serious moped collection.
